Inexpensive Car Insurance

You will have to pull out all the stops when looking for inexpensive car insurance.  If you do not take any action, then you won’t save any money.  You will not get any help from car insurance brokers as the more you pay, the more they will receive on commissions.

When I was younger, I thought that car was just a mandatory requirement and didn’t think of the importance of good car insurance coverage.  When I was in college, I drove a 1991 Toyota Tercel.  The car was worth about $300 and I didn’t care if the car was damaged.  All I had was liability, which is the legal minimum to be an insured driver.  In order to get the cheapest car insurance quote, you will have to understand what type of coverage you need based on your economic condition.  The best way to get the most inexpensive car insurance is to understand and take control of your policy.  If you let your car insurance broker develop your policy, then you might be paying more than you should be.  Some insurance brokers will add in coverage that you do not need and will stick unnecessary service fees into your policy without your permission.

Sometimes asking for the minimum policy to be a legal driver is interpreted differently from one car insurance to another.  Sometimes, asking for the minimum insurance policy might mean that you are actually receiving the company’s minimum policy.  You will have to specifically have to request the lowest policy and need to looks at your coverage to see whether or not you are getting the cheapest car insurance available.  Now that you know this, here are some car insurance savings tips so that won’t be paying more than you need to pay.

The first task you should do is to get multiple quotes from various insurance companies.  The more quotes that you can obtain, the more leverage you will have.  Be careful to review each quote for the limits and deductibles that are attached.  Make sure that all policies are comparable and that you are comparing apples to apples.  If you do purchase a policy, make sure to review your policy every year to see if you can get an applicable discount.  Sometimes traffic infractions “accidently” get left on even though they should have been dropped.  Give your car insurance company a reminder and also ask for a discount for being a good driver.  Remember, you have the leverage as it’s easy to drop this company and go to another one anytime you want.  If your kids are still on your policy and they are still in college, it’s probably time to take them off your policy and letting them have their own.  This is especially important if your child does not have a car and they are still on your policy.  Dropping as many driver’s on your policy that do not need to be on it will save you a considerable amount of money.  Another way to save money is to increase your deductible on collision and comprehensive insurance.  The higher the deductible, the more you will have to pay out of pocket.  However, if your car is not worth that much, than expensive damages will probably mean that you should salvage your car.  However, if you do increase your deductible, you will be able to save money until the day your accident happens (if it happens).  As a matter of fact, if you own your vehicle and the value of the car is lower than what you’re paying on your premium, then it’s probably best to get rid of optional car insurance coverage all together.  Remember to always ask for specific discounts such as being a women driver, safe driver, insurance bundle package discount, and good student driver discounts.  If you will be eligible for discounts in the future such as the discount you receive when you turn twenty five years old, then make sure to remind your insurance broker when the time comes.  Remember that an inexpensive car insurance company always isn’t your best alternative.  Sometimes paying an extra $15 a month and having better customer service is more valuable than saving a few dollars.
